What Never to Pour Down Your Sinks
7/28/2019 (Permalink)
Always avoid pouring grease down your kitchen sink. It doesn’t matter if you flush it with hot or cold water. It can still congeal and cling to your pipes, and could still cause serious damage and blockage.
Using detergent to break up grease before pouring it down the drain may help sometimes, but there’s no guarantee it will keep the grease from sticking to your pipes.
The safest thing to do is just to pour your cooled grease in an empty can, and either let it sit or put it in the refrigerator. Once it hardens, throw it away in the garbage can.
Pipe leaks from clogged pipes can cause water damage to your home as well as mold damage if the water damage is not soon addressed. To learn more about water damage restoration from SERVPRO of Helotes / Leon Springs, click here.
